ONE SPECIAL DAY ...

With the initiative of our webmaster on the 21st of June 2008 the editorial team of the website, along with some fellow collectors, we met Alessandro Rossi accompanied by his wife Teresa. The meeting made deliberately informal, put  in touch the founder of some of the major collectors of historical Rivarossi model trains.

The event was simply to pay homage to the founder, with interaction with the collectors present a pleasant analysis of the entire history of Rivarossi and it’s produced models. On a table, apart from Cabernet and different delicacies, a series of older model trains, some still boxed , dating back to the initial production runs of the time, still miraculously intact, ("... when we were in Cassano Albese ... "confirmed remembering and smiling Mrs. Teresa). In memory of this historic event the founder was presented with an engraving depicting the legendary steam train Gr 740, a workhorse of the Italian State Railway and of Rivarossi in 1957, commissioned in  a “one only” basis  by  "Chinediferro" made by Giulio Pellegrini of Montepulciano (Si).

A historic meeting for many of us, which allowed us to know and honor the father of the Italian model railway scenario.

Definitely what one could best describe only as…. “ A Special Day”…

Even if Max does not want me to say so, the sketch and design for the Gr740 was done by him. He writes well and is an excellent graphic designer: therefore it is clear that the web does benefit.
