Electric locomotive FS class E 428 (2nd series)
Model of the Italian Locomotive type E428 (2nd series) of the FS with semi-aerodynamic driving cabs. A wonderful model with fine finishing details right down to the smallest parts. The wheel arrangement is 2-Bo+Bo-2. The articulated underframe is in two halves as in the prototype, allowing a perfect running and steadiness also on sharp curves with minimum lateral displacement of the body. These locomotives were built for the FS for hauling heavy and fast trains on main line duty. Operating headlights, depending on running direction. Pantographs of FS type 32, later type 52. Switch for overhead or track pickup.
Length of the model cm. 22.
Produced by Rivarossi from 1960 until 1987, featuring Rivarossi vertical-shaft motor with worm-screw. Only the last two items featured the correct aspect of the front windows, squared and not diamond-shaped.
