Electric locomotive FS class E 428 (1^st series)

Model of the Italian Locomotive type E428 (1^st series - first order) of the FS with wheel arrangement 2-Bo+Bo-2.  A faithful reproduction of the locomotive number E428-013. The articulated underframe incorporates at both ends the characteristic bonnets. Operating headlights, depending on the running direction. Pantographs of FS type 32, later type 52. Switch for overhead or track pickup.

NOTE : It is a debated question whether the class E428 should be split in three or four sub-classes or series.  In the sixties the prevalent line of thought was for three-series, and Rivarossi adopted it. This means that the first series was itself split in two different orders to the industry, diversified by weight and details in the body sides. Rivarossi never made a model of the second order (or second of four series) prototypes.

New model to exact 1:87 scale produced by  Lima-Rivarossi from 1992 until 1997, featuring horizontal can motor, flywheel and double cardan-shaft drive on both central bogies.
