Electric Locomotive Class Ae3/5 SBB CFF FFS
When the locomotive first entered service, between 1922 and 1935, these
locomotives were in a brown livery. The model refers to no. 10213 in its
earliest livery, still fitted with front doors.
This model of the Ae3/5 no. 10216 is the variant of the early '60s, after the removal of the front doors and of the sandboxes.
For hauling of automobiles through both Gotthard and Simplon Tunnels, some Ae3/5 locos were modified for push-pull operation. Among the major modifications, there was a different roof layout with single pantograph.
